手紙(てがみ)の宛名(あてな)には相手(あいて)の名前(なまえ)に様(さま)をつけるのが基本(きほん)だ。
The basic rule is to add -sama to the recipient's name on the address of a letter.

〜様(さま) is a highly respectful honorific.
