To develop romantic feelings for someone, typically in a spontaneous and somewhat passionate way. More colloquial and direct than 恋をする.

この景色(けしき)には惚(ほ)れ惚(ぼ)れする。

This scenery is enchanting.

職人(しょくにん)の見事(みごと)な技(わざ)に惚(ほ)れ込(こ)んで、弟子入(でしい)りした。

Usage

A direct, somewhat informal word for falling in love or being captivated. More spontaneous and passionate than 好(す)きになる. Often implies being struck by sudden attraction.
