To pass a liquid or mixture through a cloth, sieve, or other filter to separate solids from liquids or to achieve a smoother texture. Common in cooking and traditional crafts.

USAGE:
A godan verb (漉す → 漉します). Often written in hiragana as こす since the kanji 漉 is not in the standard-use kanji list. Primarily a cooking and craft term.
Note: The homophones 越す (to cross over) and 超す (to exceed) are completely different words.
Also used in the compound 紙を漉く (to make paper by hand), though this uses a different reading of the same kanji.
