Usage

As a standalone word, 日和(ひより) means weather or fine weather. When used as a suffix (pronounced びより with rendaku), it describes a perfect day for an activity: 花見(はなみ)日和(びより) (perfect cherry blossom viewing weather), 運動会(うんどうかい)日和(びより) (perfect sports day weather).
