日和見(ひよりみ)主義(しゅぎ)では信頼(しんらい)されない。
You won't be trusted if you're an opportunist.
彼(かれ)は日和見(ひよりみ)で、いつも有利(ゆうり)な方(ほう)につく。
He's a fence-sitter who always sides with whoever has the advantage.

USAGE:
As a standalone word, 日和(ひより) means weather or fine weather. When used as a suffix (pronounced びより with rendaku), it describes a perfect day for an activity: 花見(はなみ)日和(びより) (perfect cherry blossom viewing weather), 運動会(うんどうかい)日和(びより) (perfect sports day weather).
