A conjunction used to introduce a conclusion or result based on the preceding explanation. Indicates that what follows is a natural consequence of what was just described.

The train stopped running. That's why I was late.

USAGE:
Used at the beginning of a sentence to connect it to the previous context as a logical conclusion. More conversational and explanatory than formal conjunctions like したがって or それゆえ. Common in both spoken and written Japanese, especially when summarizing or wrapping up an explanation.
Also appears at the end as そういうわけだ (that's the reason / that's why) to conclude an explanation.
