For facts, data, or circumstances to clearly show or demonstrate something. The subject is typically an inanimate thing (data, expression, results) that 'tells' or reveals a truth.

These numbers say it all.

物語る has two uses: to narrate/recount events (literary), and to indicate/reveal something (very common in news and writing).

SENSE 1 - NARRATE:
Literary. Used for recounting stories or experiences: 戦争の体験を物語る (recount war experiences).
SENSE 2 - INDICATE/REVEAL:
Extremely common in news and formal writing. Inanimate subjects 'tell' or 'speak to' something:
- 数字が物語る (the numbers tell the story)
- 結果が物語っている (the results show)
- 表情が物語っている (the expression reveals)
- すべてを物語っている (it says it all)
The ている form is especially frequent in sense 2.
