1. to roll up; to turn up; to tuck up
To fold or roll something (such as sleeves, a skirt, or pages) upward or back.
袖(そで)をまくる。
To roll up one's sleeves.
暑(あつ)かったのでズボンの裾(すそ)をまくった。
It was hot, so I rolled up my pant legs.
大掃除(おおそうじ)のときにカーペットをまくって、下(した)にたまったほこりをきれいに掃除(そうじ)した。
During the big clean-up, I rolled up the carpet and cleaned the dust that had accumulated underneath.
2. to keep doing; to do vigorously (verb suffix)
Attached to the stem of another verb to express doing something continuously or enthusiastically. Written as 〜まくる.
休(やす)みの日(ひ)は一日中(いちにちじゅう)食(た)べまくった。
On my day off, I ate non-stop all day long.
セールで買(か)いまくってしまい、財布(さいふ)が空(から)になった。
I went on a buying spree at the sale and emptied my wallet.
彼女(かのじょ)は電話(でんわ)で二時間(にじかん)もしゃべりまくって、全然(ぜんぜん)やめる気配(けはい)がなかった。
She talked non-stop on the phone for two whole hours and showed no sign of stopping.

まくる has two distinct uses.

Sense 1 (ROLL UP)

Also written as 捲(まく)る. A godan verb meaning to physically roll or fold something back.

SENSE 2 (SUFFIX 〜まくる):
Attached to the ます-stem of verbs to emphasize doing something repeatedly, excessively, or with great vigor. Informal and emphatic.
