To forcefully and suddenly grab something from someone, typically their bag or belongings, often while running or riding past. A common crime term in Japanese.

An intensified form of 引っ手繰る (to yank toward oneself), with the っ indicating a quick, forceful action. The noun form ひったくり refers both to the crime of bag-snatching and to the person who commits it.
