Extremely common in daily communication, especially in workplace and messaging contexts. The standalone 了解(りょうかい) or 了解(りょうかい)です is a standard casual-to-neutral acknowledgment.

Usage

There is a widespread belief that 了解(りょうかい)しました is rude to use with superiors, and that 承知(しょうち)しました should be used instead. While this is debated among language experts, many Japanese people follow this convention in business settings.
