To accompany someone by taking them from the current location to another place. The subject physically leads or brings the other person, who is normally a human or animal (not an inanimate object — for inanimate objects use ()っていく). Direction is away from the speaker's reference point.

Compound of the て form of ()れる ('to take/lead someone along') + いく ('to go'). The combination expresses motion away from the speaker's reference point while accompanying another person. Often written ()れて() with kanji; the kana form ()れていく is also very common, especially in casual writing.

The object is almost always a person or animal, marked with . For inanimate objects, use ()っていく instead.
