USAGE:
- Follows nouns, na-adjectives (bare stem), i-adjectives (plain form), and plain-form verbs: 学生でしょうか、静かでしょうか、高いでしょうか、来るでしょうか.
- Commonly used in polite service encounters (shops, hotels, customer service) and formal conversation.
- Can convey tentativeness about one's own guess (e.g., 雨でしょうか — 'I wonder if it'll rain'), or be a polite inquiry directed to the listener (e.g., 何時でしょうか — 'What time is it, may I ask?').
