to be liked; to be loved; to be popular
The passive form of 好く, used to express that someone or something is liked or well-received by others. Much more common than the active form 好く in modern Japanese.
The passive form of 好く (to like), but far more commonly used than the active form in modern Japanese. While 好き (the adjective) is the standard way to express liking something, 好かれる is the natural way to say someone is liked by others. The active verb 好く is relatively rare in speech.
