To take an object away from the speaker's location to somewhere else. Compound of 持つ (to hold) + 行く (to go). Used when the destination is away from the speaker; contrasts with 持ってくる (to bring here).
傘を持っていく。

I took a packed lunch to school.
旅行に持っていく荷物をスーツケースに詰めた。
I packed the luggage I'm taking on the trip into a suitcase.
Transitive godan verb conjugating like 行く: 持っていく・持っていって・持っていった. Often written 持って行く; the hiragana form もっていく is also common in casual writing. Pairs with 持ってくる for direction.
