USAGE:
Common in workplace, sports, and political contexts. The pattern Xに復帰(ふっき)する (to return to X) or Xから復帰(ふっき)する (to return from X) are both frequently used. Historically significant in 沖縄(おきなわ)返還(へんかん)復帰(ふっき) (the reversion of Okinawa to Japan in 1972).
