Usage

Very commonly used in the negative form 見当(みあ)たらない (cannot be found). The affirmative form is less frequent but does occur. This is an intransitive verb — the thing being found is the subject.

Writing

Also written as 見(み)あたる in kana, or 見当(みあ)たる as a single unit. Despite the kanji 当(あ)たる, this is a distinct word from 当(あ)たる (to hit).
