For something that was lost or hidden to become found. The intransitive form.
財布(さいふ)が見(み)つかった。
The wallet was found.
仕事(しごと)が見(み)つからない。
I can't find a job.
いくら探(さが)しても答(こた)えが見(み)つからなかった。
No matter how much I searched, I couldn't find the answer.
2. to be caught, to be detected
For a person doing something wrong to be discovered.
サボっているのが見(み)つかった。
I was caught slacking off.
カンニングが先生(せんせい)に見(み)つかった。
The teacher caught me cheating.
こっそり食(た)べていたお菓子(かし)が母(はは)に見(み)つかってしまった。
My mother caught me secretly eating snacks.
