1. to let wither; to cause to dry up; to kill (a plant)

To cause a plant to wilt and die, typically through neglect (not watering) or by using chemicals. The transitive counterpart of 枯れる (to wither).

水(みず)をやらなくて花(はな)を枯(か)らしてしまった。

I let the flowers die because I didn't water them.

除草剤(じょそうざい)で雑草(ざっそう)を枯(か)らす。
