To include or mix different elements together. Often used for mixing things like humor into speech, or different items into a group.

2. to exchange (words, blows)
To exchange words, glances, or blows with someone.
The two parted without exchanging a single word.

()じえる has two main uses: (1) to mix in or intersperse different elements, and (2) to exchange something with someone.

Transitivity

()じえている means the mixing/interspersing is ongoing or the mixed state persists.
