ETYMOLOGY:
名残 (lingering feeling, aftermath) + 惜しい (regrettable). The feeling of not wanting something to end.
USAGE:
Used at partings, the end of pleasant experiences, or when leaving a place one has grown attached to. Often modifies 別れ (parting) or appears in the pattern ～のが名残惜しい.
