mirrorless camera
A digital camera that does not use a mirror mechanism to reflect light to an optical viewfinder, making it lighter and more compact than a traditional DSLR.
Short for ミラーレス一眼カメラ (mirrorless interchangeable-lens camera). The term is used as both a noun (referring to the camera) and as a modifier. Mirrorless cameras have become the mainstream in Japanese photography since major manufacturers shifted focus from DSLRs around 2018.
