ヒーター

From English "heater." A general term for heating devices used to warm indoor spaces.

COMMON COLLOCATIONS:

• ヒーターをつける: to turn on the heater
• ヒーターを消(け)す: to turn off the heater
• ヒーターの前(まえ): in front of the heater

TYPES:

• 電気(でんき)ヒーター: electric heater
• ガスヒーター: gas heater
• オイルヒーター: oil-filled radiator
• セラミックヒーター: ceramic heater

OTHER HEATING IN JAPAN:

• ストーブ: stove (usually kerosene heater, not a cooking stove)
• エアコン暖房(だんぼう): AC heating mode
• 炬燵(こたつ): kotatsu (heated table with blanket)

Note: ストーブ in Japanese usually means a space heater (especially kerosene), not a cooking stove.
