Watch out

バーゲン means a sale event, not a good deal ("That's a bargain!" is 安(やす)い! or お買(か)い得(どく)だ) and not bargaining over a price (値切(ねぎ)る).

Cultural note

Department stores and fashion retailers hold two big sales a year: the summer sale (夏(なつ)のバーゲン, from about late June into July) and the winter sale (冬(ふゆ)のバーゲン, starting with the New Year 初売(はつう)り in early January).
