The middle value in a data set when all values are arranged in order. A statistical measure used as an alternative to the average because it is less affected by extreme values.
A statistical term composed of 中央 (center; middle) and 値 (value). The 中央値 is frequently used in news and economic reporting because, unlike the 平均値 (mean/average), it is not skewed by extremely high or low values. This makes it especially useful for income, housing prices, and other data with uneven distributions.
