the temperature at which a solid becomes a liquid
Composed of 融解 (melting; dissolution) + 点 (point). The melting point and 凝固点 (freezing point) are the same temperature for a given substance — the difference is the direction of the phase change. In everyday Japanese, 融点 is more commonly used as the short form.
