To fall down, especially by tripping or losing balance. Very common in casual and children's speech.
こけた!
I fell!
石につまずいてこけた。
I tripped on a stone and fell.
走っていたらこけて膝をすりむいた。
I fell while running and scraped my knee.
KANJI: Can be written as 転ける.
TRANSITIVITY: Intransitive.
REGIONAL NOTE: More common in Western Japan (Kansai region). In Eastern Japan (Kanto), 転ぶ is more common.
CONJUGATION: Despite ending in -eru, this is an ichidan (vowel-stem) verb: こけない, こけます, こけて, etc.
