A social gathering where a group of men and a group of women meet, typically at a restaurant or bar, with the aim of finding romantic partners. Usually organized by one person from each side who knows each other.

Short for 合同(ごうどう)コンパ (joint drinking party). コンパ itself comes from English "company" or German "Kompanie."

Typically involves equal numbers of men and women (often 3-on-3 or 4-on-4) meeting at a restaurant or izakaya. Very common among university students and young working adults in Japan.
