mildly air-conditioned train car
A train car where the air conditioning is set to a higher temperature than the other cars, typically around 26-28°C instead of the standard 24-26°C. Provided for passengers who find regular air conditioning too cold.
Components: 弱 (weak/mild) + 冷房 (air conditioning) + 車 (car/vehicle).
Found on many commuter train lines in Japan during summer months. Typically one or two cars per train are designated as 弱冷房車, identified by stickers on the windows or doors.
This is a uniquely Japanese transit concept reflecting sensitivity to the fact that different passengers have different comfort levels with air conditioning.
