The state of eagerly waiting and hoping for something to happen. Most commonly used as a modifier (待望の〜) to describe something people have been looking forward to.

USAGE:
Most frequently appears as a noun modifier: 待望の〜 (the long-awaited ~). Also used as a suru verb (待望する = to eagerly await), though the modifier form is far more common. This word always carries a positive tone — the thing awaited is desired and welcome.
