The players held the championship trophy up high and responded to the cheers of the crowd.

A na-adjective, but used almost exclusively in the adverbial form (たか)らかに. The na-adjective form ((たか)らかな) is rare.

COMMON COLLOCATIONS:

  • (たか)らかに(わら)う (laugh out loud)
  • (たか)らかに宣言(せんげん)する (declare triumphantly)
  • (たか)らかに(うた)う (sing out boldly)
  • (たか)らかに(かか)げる (hold up high, display proudly)

USAGE NOTES:
Conveys confidence, boldness, or triumph. The に form functions as an adverb modifying the following verb. Distinguished from simply (たか)く (high/loud) by its literary and dramatic tone — (たか)らかに implies a deliberate, proud quality, not just volume.
