大安(たいあん) is part of the 六曜(ろくよう) (six-day cycle) calendar system used in Japan for fortune-telling. The six days are: 大安(たいあん) (most lucky), 友引(ともびき) (partly lucky), 先勝(せんしょう) (morning lucky), 先負(せんぶ) (afternoon lucky), 赤口(しゃっこう) (mostly unlucky), and 仏滅(ぶつめつ) (most unlucky). Many Japanese calendars still include these designations.
