Expresses strong determination to achieve something regardless of obstacles or difficulty.
何(なん)としても合格(ごうかく)したい。
I want to pass no matter what.
何(なん)としても明日(あした)までに終(お)わらせなければならない。
I must finish this by tomorrow no matter what.
チームは何(なん)としても優勝(ゆうしょう)するという強(つよ)い気持(きも)ちで試合(しあい)に臨(のぞ)んだ。
The team went into the match with a strong determination to win the championship at all costs.

Usage

Expresses strong resolve or urgency. Often followed by verbs expressing desire (～たい) or obligation (～なければならない). Similar in meaning to 是(ぜ)が非(ひ)でも but more colloquial.
