In baseball, the number of official times a batter comes to the plate, excluding walks, sacrifices, and hit-by-pitches. The denominator used to calculate batting average.
A baseball statistic. Walks (四球), sacrifices, and hit-by-pitches are counted separately as plate appearances (打席) but not as 打数.
