A situation that demands immediate action. Almost always used in set expressions about getting through or coping with the crisis rather than on its own.
急場(きゅうば)をしのいだ。
We got through the emergency.

応急処置(おうきゅうしょち)は急場(きゅうば)をしのぐためのもので、根本的(こんぽんてき)な解決(かいけつ)にはならない。
