The annual period during which schools and universities are in session. In Japan, it runs from April to March.
新(しん)年度(ねんど)が始(はじ)まる。

The academic year in Japan starts in April.
年度(ねんど)末(まつ)は3月(がつ)なので、この時期(じき)は忙(いそが)しい。

年度(ねんど) refers to an administrative period of one year that may not align with the calendar year. In Japan, both the fiscal year (会計(かいけい)年度(ねんど)) and academic year (学(がく)年度(ねんど)) run from April to March.
