Usually written in hiragana. The kanji (はさみ) exists but is rarely used in everyday writing.

COUNTERS:
Counted with (ほん) (for long objects) or (ちょう) (traditional). A single pair is still just はさみ - Japanese doesn't distinguish singular/plural.
