To be employed at a company or organization. Focuses on the place of employment rather than the job itself.
銀行(ぎんこう)に勤(つと)めています。
I work at a bank.
Place of work uses に
大(おお)きい会社(かいしゃ)に勤(つと)めたいです。
I want to work at a big company.
父(ちち)は病院(びょういん)に勤(つと)めています。
My father works at a hospital.
大学(だいがく)を出(で)てから、ずっとこの会社(かいしゃ)に勤(つと)めています。
I've been working at this company ever since I graduated from university.
彼女(かのじょ)は有名(ゆうめい)な会社(かいしゃ)に勤(つと)めていますが、仕事(しごと)が大変(たいへん)で毎日(まいにち)遅(おそ)くまで働(はたら)いています。

TRANSITIVITY: 自動詞(じどうし) (intransitive). No pair verb. Pattern: Xに勤(つと)める (work at X).

ASPECT: ている indicates ongoing state. 勤(つと)めている = 'is employed at' (current employment).
