バスタオル

バスタオル is a large towel used for drying the body after bathing. From English "bath towel."

• バスタオル: bath towel (large)
• フェイスタオル: face towel (medium)
• ハンドタオル: hand towel (small)
• タオルケット: towel blanket (for sleeping in summer)
• バスローブ: bathrobe

Counted with 枚(まい): バスタオル1枚(まい), 2枚(まい), etc.

CULTURAL NOTE:
In Japanese bathing culture, people bring a small 手(て)ぬぐい or フェイスタオル into the 浴室(よくしつ) for washing, while the バスタオル stays outside for drying afterward. This separation is standard at 銭湯(せんとう) (public baths) and 温泉(おんせん) (hot springs) as well.
