Used to count flat, thin objects such as paper, plates, shirts, tickets, photos, CDs, and sliced items.
〜枚 is a counter for thin, flat objects. One of the most common counters in Japanese.
WHAT IT COUNTS:
- 紙: paper
- 写真: photos
- 皿: plates
- 切符: tickets
- シャツ: shirts
- CD, DVD
- 布団: futons
- ピザ (slices)
COUNTING:
- 一枚, 二枚, 三枚, 四枚, 五枚
- 六枚, 七枚, 八枚, 九枚, 十枚
- 何枚: how many (flat things)?
No sound changes occur with this counter.
NOTE: For bound paper (books, notebooks), use 〜冊 instead.
