TYPES OF SHIRTS:

  • Tシャツ: T-shirt
  • ワイシャツ: dress shirt (from "white shirt")
  • ポロシャツ: polo shirt
  • 長袖(ながそで)シャツ: long-sleeved shirt
  • 半袖(はんそで)シャツ: short-sleeved shirt

COMMON EXPRESSIONS:

  • シャツを着(き)る: to wear a shirt
  • シャツを脱(ぬ)ぐ: to take off a shirt

  • シャツの裾(すそ): shirt hem/tail

NOTE:
ワイシャツ specifically refers to dress shirts worn with suits. The term comes from "white shirt" but now includes colored dress shirts too.
