3. to last, to hold up

体力(たいりょく)()たない。
My stamina won't hold out.
This bread has a short expiration date, so it only lasts about three days.

TRANSITIVITY: 他動詞(たどうし) (transitive). No pair verb. Pattern: Xを()つ (hold/have X).

ASPECT: ている indicates resulting state. ()っている = 'has/possesses' (ownership state, very common).

COMMON PATTERNS:

Godan verb: te-form ()って. Compare: ある (existence), ()つ (ownership/carrying). Sense 3 (last/endure) is intransitive usage.
