Describes something that gives pleasure or enjoyment.

Today was fun.

This book is fun.

Playing together is fun.

During summer vacation, I swam in the sea and went to the mountains—it was really fun.

Talking with friends is fun, but reading books alone is also fun.

嬉(うれ)しい: glad, happy — a reaction to a specific event (good news, a gift). 楽(たの)しい describes an activity or a stretch of time you take part in: パーティーは楽(たの)しかった, but 合格(ごうかく)して嬉(うれ)しい.
面白(おもしろ)い: interesting, funny — about content (a book, a joke, an idea). A game can be both, but a lecture is 面白(おもしろ)い, not 楽(たの)しい.

"I'm looking forward to it" is 楽(たの)しみです or 楽(たの)しみにしています, not 楽(たの)しいです. 楽(たの)しい is for enjoyment while it happens or looking back (楽(たの)しかった).
