A motor vehicle for transportation. The most common word for car in everyday Japanese.
新(あたら)しい車(くるま)を買(か)いました。
I bought a new car.

2. wheel
A circular object that rotates. This is the original meaning of the kanji.
車椅子(くるまいす)を使(つか)っています。
I use a wheelchair.
風車(かざぐるま)が回(まわ)っています。
The pinwheel is spinning.
水車(すいしゃ)は昔(むかし)、米(こめ)を精米(せいまい)するのに使(つか)われました。
Waterwheels were used in the past to mill rice.
この車(くるま)の車輪(しゃりん)は大(おお)きいです。
The wheels of this car are big.
自転車(じてんしゃ)の車輪(しゃりん)がパンクしたので、歩(ある)いて帰(かえ)りました。
