2. to spend (money, time)
To expend resources. お金(かね)を使(つか)う (to spend money), 時間(じかん)を使(つか)う (to spend time).
お金(かね)を使(つか)う。

時間(じかん)を使(つか)いすぎた。
I spent too much time.
今月(こんげつ)はお金(かね)を使(つか)いすぎた。
I spent too much money this month.
旅行(りょこう)にたくさんお金(かね)を使(つか)った。

TRANSITIVITY: 他動詞(たどうし) (transitive). No pair verb. Pattern: Xを使(つか)う (use X).

ASPECT: ている indicates ongoing action. 使(つか)っている = 'is using.'
