Usage

ゾーン is commonly used as a suffix to designate areas: 禁煙(きんえん)ゾーン (no-smoking zone), フリーゾーン (free zone), セーフティーゾーン (safety zone).

In sports and psychology, ゾーンに入(はい)る (to enter the zone) describes a state of heightened focus and peak performance, similar to English "being in the zone."
