1.
after one's death; posthumously
The period following someone's death. Used as a time reference in biographical, artistic, and legal contexts to describe events, recognition, or actions that occurred after a person passed away.

USAGE:
没後 is the formal/written counterpart of 死後 (after death). While 死後 is more general and direct, 没後 is more respectful and commonly used in biographical and artistic contexts. The opposite is 生前 (during one's lifetime). 没後 + a number of years is a standard way to express how long ago someone died (e.g., 没後百年, one hundred years after death).
COMMON COLLOCATIONS:
- 没後~年: ~ years after death
- 没後に評価される: to be recognized posthumously
- 没後の作品: posthumous works
- 没後出版: posthumous publication
