A literary word meaning a large number or great quantity. More formal and poetic than たくさん.
数多(あまた)困難(こんなん)()()えた。
I overcame numerous difficulties.
数多(あまた)作品(さくひん)(のこ)した画家(がか)だ。
He is a painter who left behind a great many works.
彼女(かのじょ)数多(あまた)(しょう)受賞(じゅしょう)し、国際的(こくさいてき)(みと)められる存在(そんざい)となった。

USAGE:
A literary, elevated word. In everyday speech, たくさん or (おお)くの is used instead. 数多(あまた) appears in formal writing, literature, speeches, and news. Almost always modifies a noun with の: 数多(あまた)作品(さくひん).

Also read as 数多(すうた) in some compounds, but the standalone adverbial use is always あまた.
