歩数計(ほすうけい)

Composed of 歩数(ほすう) (step count) + 計(けい) (meter/gauge). Refers to any device or app that counts steps.

Usage

Originally a standalone clip-on device, now commonly a built-in feature of smartphones and smartwatches. Still widely used in Japan, where the 一万歩(いちまんぽ) (10,000 steps per day) health goal remains popular.
