2. to turn on (lights, appliances)

To switch on electrical devices. Written as 点(つ)ける for this meaning. Opposite of 消(け)す (to turn off).

Please turn on the light.

テレビを点(つ)けてもいいですか。

May I turn on the TV?

エアコンを点(つ)けましょう。暑(あつ)いですね。

Let's turn on the air conditioner. It's hot, isn't it?

It's dark, so could you turn on the light?
