The last day of a series of theatrical, kabuki, sumo, or other performing arts events.

Originally from kabuki and traditional theater terminology. 楽 here comes from the Buddhist sense of "completion" or "release," not from 楽しい (fun). Also read as らくび in some contexts.
USAGE:
- Primarily used for performing arts: theater, kabuki, musicals, concerts, sumo tournaments
- The opposite (opening day) is 初日
- Often a special occasion with extra performances or speeches
COMMON COLLOCATIONS:
- 楽日を迎える: to reach the closing day
- 大楽: the grand finale — the very last performance, often of a tour
- 千秋楽: closing day (formal synonym, especially in sumo and kabuki)
SIMILAR WORDS:
- 千秋楽: closing day — more formal and traditional; the standard term in sumo
- 初日: opening day — the first day of a performance run
- 最終日: last day — general term, not specific to performances
