1. Kokugikan; national sumo arena

An arena built for sumo wrestling. By default refers to the 両国(りょうごく)国技館(こくぎかん) in Tokyo, the main venue for grand sumo tournaments in eastern Japan.

国技館(こくぎかん)で相撲(すもう)を見(み)た。

I watched sumo at the Kokugikan.

両国(りょうごく)国技館(こくぎかん)の席(せき)を予約(よやく)した。

I reserved a seat at the Ryōgoku Kokugikan.

Literally "national-sport hall," from 国技(こくぎ) (national sport) + 館(かん) (hall). The current arena in Ryōgoku opened in 1985 and hosts three of the six annual sumo tournaments.
